Driftwood Beach, Georgia

At the northern tip of Jekyll Island in Georgia, Driftwood Beach is a spooky but beautiful place. Steady erosion has created a landscape of gnarled dead pines and water oaks. And, bleached by the sun and scattered across the soft sand. With this backdrop of twisting natural sculptures, the sunsets here are unbelievable. Gait to the end of the beach, where it becomes increasingly empty and otherworldly the further you go.

Its mineral clear waters are home to various species of crabs, fish and other sea creatures. The small tidal pools that form around the remains of each oak tree at low tide are also worth exploring. Stay at the 19th-century Jekyll Island Club Option, just a 10-minute drive from the beach.

Pfeiffer Beach, California

At first glance, Pfeiffer Beach seems almost foreign, but it is certainly one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever visit. And an incredible view. The metallic purple sheen of the Pfeiffer sand was causes by erosion from nearby hills, resulting in deposits of manganese minerals on the beach. Stay hidden among the trees on a secluded hill overlooking the coast at the Ventana Inn & Spa.

Miami South Beach, Florida

At the southerly tip of Florida, Miami’s South Beach is one of America’s most well-known strips of shingle for a decent reason. The shingle is as white, the sea as aqua and the atmosphere as glamorous as expected. Skaters glide through waterfront parks backed by Art Deco architecture and neon signs, while sunbathers sprawl on the sand beside lookout towers painted lilac, yellow or red with white stripes.

Here you can surf and parasail or soak up the sun and try SoBe’s Latino cocktails. The Hispanic heritage of this neighbourhood means visitors are ruined for choice when it comes to Cuban food and drink. Try ropa vieja (shredded beef in a hot tomato sauce helped with tortillas) and yuca (a vegetable dish steeped in lime and olive oil) at restaurants like Havana in 1957. Come home to 1 Hotel South Beach to enjoy the sunset from the elegant swimming pool in front of the sea.

Madness Beach, South Carolina

With its wooden pier stretching 300 yards out into the Atlantic and culminating in a sizeable diamond-shaped pavilion, Folly Beach captures classic South Carolina charm. It’s situated on the island south of Charleston and seals with sunbathers and surfers fleeing the city once the weather takes to up in April.

Watch the sunset over the golden shingles or take an island boat tour to see dolphins and the Morris Island Lighthouse in shallow water, though the building is gradually sinking into the sea due to attrition. For dinner, the Bowens Island restaurant is set back from the beach toward Charleston. And also, dating back to the mid-1940s, it serves some of the best fresh oysters and prawns around. Book a pier view suite at Tides Folly Beach.

Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina

Kill Devil Hills is the town in the Outer Banks of North Carolina lined with many beautiful beaches. It’s also a surfer’s paradise, with various wave heights and intensities promising solid waves for surfers of all skill levels. Today the Atlantic winds attract windsurfers, but over 100 years ago, they also led the Wright brothers to make the first controlled flight in a powered aeroplane in 1903. Also, with private beach access. Also,  the Foreign has a comfortable walkway where you can end the day with a sunset in the ocean.

Siesta Key Beach, Florida

Often labelled as the best beach in Florida, Siesta Key sits on a small barrier island off the west coast of the Sunshine State, not far from Sarasota. Also, the sand here is powder-fine, 99% quartz, which means it doesn’t get too hot in the sun, and a white colour that shimmers against the mint-green sea. And also, the beach is lengthy and vast sufficient to have plenty of room to spread out potentially. Spend the day playing beach volleyball games and jumping in the waves. Also, in the evening, head to downtown Sarasota for eateries like Southern pecan-crusted trout with lobster butter and prawn jambalaya at Owen’s Fish Camp or ceviche at Selva. Guests of The Capri at Siesta can enjoy the property’s outdoor pool a few steps from the beach.

Gulf Coast, Alabama

With 32 miles of white-sand beaches slurped by aqua waves, Gulf Shores are one of Alabama’s most popular seaside spots. Spend your days tanning or swimming in the calm waters. Or you can head to Gulf National Park to go angling or take a boat cruise to watch dolphins. Many pelicans congregate around the public pier when the fishermen return with their catch. Seafood is excellent here, with oysters being the local speciality. Gulf Shores also pride itself on its convenience and sustainable approach. Also, with programs and movements to ensure the beach stays clean. Stay right on the sand at Beach Club Resort and Spa II.

Waikiki Beach, Hawaii

Waikiki is one of the largest and most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. Activities here include greeting the island dawns with seaside yoga classes, world-class wave surfing lessons.

And, moony dinners at one of the many beachside eateries. And, stay at the luxurious and renowned Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort, founded in 1927.
